Dr. Aaron Tyler, Interim Pastor

Tyler, Aaron & Lori Dr. Aaron Tyler is currently Chair of the Graduate International Relations Program at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Dr. Tyler received a B.A. from Baylor University, M.A. in International Relations from St. Mary’s University, and PhD in Religion, Culture, and Politics from Baylor University.  He taught courses at Baylor and George W. Truett Theological Seminary. His most recent writings and lectures focus on religion and political tolerance, and interfaith dialogue, conflict management and universal human rights. His professional writings appear in such publications as UCLA Journal of Islamic and Near Eastern Law, Journal of Church and State, Journal of Religion and Politics, and International Journal of Christianity and Social Work. His published books include Islam, the West, and Tolerance: Conceiving Coexistence. Before moving to San Antonio, Dr. Tyler served for six years as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Oglesby, Texas.  

Dr. Tyler is married to Lori, and they have two sons, Benjamin (10) and Luke (8).  The Tyler’s live in Helotes, Texas and are members of Woodland Baptist Church.  Dr. Tyler teaches the Young Families Sunday School class, serves on the Missions Committee and preaches at and serves on the Board of the San Antonio Rescue Mission Board, a Woodland ministry-partner.  Lori serves on Woodland’s Outreach Committee and is the Outreach Leader for the Young Families Sunday School class. In 2010, Lori was our Vacation Bible School Director.
