The children's ministry of Woodland Baptist Church serves the youngest members of our congregation, those from birth through sixth grade. Through a combination of Bible study, worship education, and missions emphasis, we practice being the presence of Christ in one another's lives. Although we work hard to provide exceptional programs for our kids, we are not a program-focused church. Instead, we strive to support the families in our midst and assist them in the task of spiritual nurture.
This ministry begins at birth, with the Woodland Sprouts room, for children from birth up through age two. The professionals in our nursery are eager to provide nurture while parents attend Sunday School, worship, and other activities.
Our preschool ministry includes Sunday School, children's choirs, and missions education. In addition, three-year-olds through kindergarteners are invited to Godly Play during the worship hour on Sunday mornings.
The elementary students at Woodland begin each week with graded Sunday School classes. They join the rest of the congregation for worship. On Wednesdays, they assemble for children's choirs and missions education. A free Vacation Bible School is offered each summer. Kids who have completed 3rd through 6th grades also have the opportunity to join us for Preteen Camp.
Special events are held throughout the year for our children and their families. The annual Gift Making Workshop is one highlight of the Advent season at Woodland. Advent and Lent Family Workshops help parents and grandparents to mark the seasons of the church calendar with their young ones. Children's Sunday is held each spring to give our kids the opportunity to lead in worship and to highlight their growth to the congregation. Other special events are held throughout the year.
