Recently our CBF Kids had an opportunity to directly support the CBF theme of “Doing Missions in a World Without Borders.” CMDR Clay Green, son of Bettie and Terry Green, who is serving in Afghanistan, had sent out a request that instead of “Care Packages” coming to him, he would prefer to see folks send him boxes of toys and children’s clothing that he, his staff, and chaplains could hand out to the poverty stricken children in and around Kabul, Afghanistan. Woodland has responded mightily with this request and the CBF Kids wanted to participate. Since the weather is still very cold in Afghanistan and winter clothing is scarce for the Afghan children, the CBF Kids decided to hand make fleece neck scarves which included a fringe embellished with bright colored pony beads. The photograph below shows 10 of the CBF Kids demonstrating their newly-made scarves. Ultimately, 24 scarves were made and shipped to CMDR Green.
