LETTING YOUR LIGHT SHINE
Keli Hausman, Family Specialist at Larkspur Elementary, has made an inquiry to see if our church would be willing to collect personal hygiene items during the months of October and November to be distributed to Larkspur families who are in need. Keli knows the needs and would be in charge of getting them to the families. There will be a basket in the Information Center to collect these items during October and November. The items that have been requested include:

Larkspur Elementary
The children at Larkspur Elementary have begun school and have met their new teachers. For many children, school is the best part of their day and the best time in a school day is the day their Kids Hope USA mentor comes to visit.
It is easy to be a mentor. Can you read to a child? Can you play a game with a child? Can you love a child? These are all the “tools” you need to be successful. Billy Graham was once asked, in his daily news paper column, how God can be shared in the classroom in today’s world. His answer was, “Let your life be a living testimony to God’s love. Let the child see Christ in the way you live—in your morality, cheerfulness, patience, and love.”
It is so easy to let your “light shine” on a student at Larkspur. There are 168 hours in a week and a child is waiting for you to share just 1 hour a week with them. A short 3 hour training is all you need to get started. Please contact Bettie Green for further information. The heart is happiest when it beats for others.
If you’re interested in learning more about this program, please visit the Kids Hope USA website.
On October 10, 2010 there will be a Kids Hope USA Kick-off Luncheon in Maresh Hall following the church service for mentors and prayer partners.
