Worship bags available
You may have seen that we now have worship bags available at each service. Here’s some more information:
If your child will be in the service on Sunday (not going to Godly Play), please be sure to get a canvas bag from the foyer. In it you will find
· a children’s worship bulletin
· a regular worship bulletin
· bookmarks
· paper
· pipe cleaners
· crayons
· colored pencils and an eraser
· Ziploc bag
From time to time, there may be other art tools or projects included. Jud has graciously agreed to look over the children’s bulletin each week so that, if appropriate, he can call attention to things that might help the kids connect with the sermon.
But the most important item in the bag is for you! We have included a short list of tips for helping your child to worship. Our goal is not to just distract kids so that they sit still, but to give them developmentally appropriate tools to actually engage in worship with the larger community. At the end of the service, please place any artwork that your child has made and would like to keep in the Ziploc to take with you, and leave the rest in the bag on the pew.
If you have any questions or suggestions for how we can help our children engage in worship, through these bags or otherwise, I would love to hear from you!
