Students need caring, loving adults in their lives. Prayer Partners is a way we can meet this need.

Prayer Partners is a mutual relationship between students and adults. They pray daily over each other and they provide encouragement and warmth to each other.

The adults reflect the heart of an older Paul toward Timothy. “I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day, longing to see you, … so that I may be filled with joy.” 2 Timothy 1:3-4

The students reflect the heart of Timothy toward Paul. “But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel.” Philippians 2:22

What do Student Ministry Prayer Partners Do?

Prayer partners are adults and students (middle school, high school, and college-age) who make a commitment to pray daily for and to encourage a particular person in our church. This relationship lasts until the student graduates from college, is married, or turns age twenty-five.

Students and adults will participate voluntarily in this ministry. *We only want adults who are not parents of students to participate. Parents of students are already pouring into their own children and probably other students as well.*

  • A prayer partner is not a "super-Christian" or "mighty-person-of-prayer"--just a regular person who is growing in his or her relationship with Christ.
  • A prayer partner keeps his or her partner covered in prayer every day and offers words of encouragement from time to time.
  • A prayer partner's relationship with his or her prayer partner grows as the prayer partner is faithful month after month and year after year to provide prayer support and encouragement to his or her prayer partner.
  • A prayer partner brings the power of God into another person’s life in ways he or she may never know simply by praying.
  • Prayer partners have their pictures made for each other.
  • Prayer partners send notes of encouragement.
  • Prayer partners pray for the needs of the Student Ministry.

Adult Prayer Partners

  • A prayer partner is not a "face to face" discipler of a student, although he or she may be.
  • A prayer partner is one, of a network of people, who makes a specific contribution to a student's growth and development in Christ.
  • Every spiritually and emotionally healthy adult at Woodland is a candidate for building prayer partner relationships with students.
  • Every adult prayer partner must have a background check.
